Avatar : I Cried A River!

Avatar-Movie

So as usual I’m pretty late to the whole movie gig, but oh well, I guess it’s better late than never eh? Specially when it comes to a movie such as this.. I couldn’t possibly miss this one. =)

So we went to see Avatar last night… and I can’t begin to put into words how impressed and moved I am by this movie. Would you have seen me in the theatre though, you’d have been able to tell for yourself. Specially if you would touch the scarf around my neck… lets just say that if was completely wet. I had tears all over my face for the bigger half of the movie. So much beauty, so much emotions… ahhhh…. [And I have to add, it wasn’t just me.. the company was weeping too! 😉 ]

This movie sends so many deeply meaningful messages through. There’s so much to think about here. And I have to admit, even though I knew I was watching a movie and not something real, there were times that I just wanted to explode with emotions. I couldn’t help totally falling in love with the “Na’vi” people.  And there were times I really wanted to punch that sodding “Colonel Miles Quaritch” hard enough in the jaw to completely redecorate his face. And guess what… finally someone managed to picture a race of alien beings that are in fact prettier than humans. Much prettier that is. =D I mean…. oh man…. BLUE….. =D 😉

Now I’m going to wait for the Blu-ray, and the soundtrack CD. It’s certainly a completely different experience when you’re watching it on IMAX 3D, and feeling like the tree branch is about to splash you in the face… but the Blu-ray would still be quite welcome, and better than nothing. 😉 But what I really wish for, is a couple [or more] of sequels. Not that it seems very likely at all…but it’s still ok to wish for it, right? =P

Aaaaaaahhhhh….. So dreamy…….

LUVED Sherlock Holmes! =D

Can’t believe I forgot to write about this! Last week I finally went to see the Sherlock Holmes movie, in Burlington with my cuz. I have to mention here first that I’ve read every single Holmes book out there, and I’ve seen the TV series. To be honest, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the older movies / TV series, because the way Holmes was pictured in those, was not really much like the image that the books gave me. The details in the books that is, very small details.

Paying attention to the hints here and there in the books about Holmes’ personal characteristics, I always had the feeling that he should be this bad-arse character somehow, and somewhat melancholy. So, obviously I enjoyed seeing a lot of just that in the movie. I think that’s how Holmes should be “made”! LUUUVVVEEDDD IT! =D

Also, for obvious reasons, I really think that there will be sequels. 😉

@ Iran: Shouts On The Rooftops….

Tonight I heard people shouting “death to the dictator” and “the political prisoners must be freed” on the rooftops around our building. It was the first time I was hearing it for myself… up close… And from what I hear, on the 4th of November [students day], people are going to be in the streets again….

On the other news, today I paid a visit to the “Tajrish” marketplace to shop for Persian stuff… and noticed that the place has been prettified and renovated…. but the mud on the ground is still the same… darn… somebody please do something about that! =P

Oh, I forgot to mention before…. last week we went to the new and fabulous Azadi movie theatres compound, and watched this VERY Persian movie called “The Rule Book”. I have to mention that the compound itself is worth making a movie out of. Pretty. Darn good architecture possibly the prettiest theatres compound I’ve ever seen. And I’m not putting that lightly!! As for the the movie… well… let just say that me, my mom and TanTan managed to drop more water than the Niagara Falls while watching it. Not that it’s a truly sad movie or anything… but it’s showing some of the bigger scars on the face of this society… and that’s why you end up crying…

Memento

Well I’m not really a movie buff…. but hey, I do very much enjoy a good movie! It’s not so difficult to entertain me with a movie, I have a passing fun with all sorts of them… but then I’m extremely picky about what I call a really _good_ movie, something that I’d watch more than once. And a few nights ago I actually came across one of those extremely rare movies which I would call one of the best I’ve ever seen!

“Memento” is simply an amazing movie. And that’s just about as much about it as I will say here, since due to the extremely complex and delicate nature of the scenario, anything that I say will easily turn into an spoiler. All I can say is that if you haven’t seen this movie you’re missing out… and that it instantly found it’s place on the top of my all time favorites. So check it out! 😉

Blood & Chocolate

Blood_and_Chocolate

To my own sweet surprise, I just managed to steal the time out of my hectic schedule tonight to watch a movie I’d been meaning to watch for a good 4 months now, and ha d never found the time to. Blood & Chocolate, pretty good movie if you’re into the whole werewolf / vampire genre. Which I happen to be. =P And it…. well…. ehmmm…. well… ummmm….. gave me slightly wet eyes.

Star Trek Movie: YAAAAAY! =D

StarTrek_Posters

So on Sunday I was out with my mom for the Mother’s Day, and guess what we did. We went and watched the new Star Trek movie! =) I know, probably not the most typical Mother’s Day activity. 😉 But you have to keep in mind that it’s my mom we’re talking about here, and she’s as big a sci-fi fan as myself. So for us, a new Star Trek movie is considered a major major event! =)

Honestly at first I was worried about getting disappointed. I’ve always been such a huge fan of Star Trek, but the last TV series with Archer didn’t really catch my attention that much. [I have to admit though, the series got much better in the latter seasons, and the very last episode was a master piece.] Also, I have always been a much bigger fan of TNG characters than the original series….. so, altogether I wasn’t sure what to expect.

Well, it turned out that the movie is in fact AWESOME, MARVELOUS, FANTASTIC and I could go on like this forever. =) I can’t put in words how much I enjoyed this movie! I can’t say much since I don’t want to give way spoilers, but I lets just say that this isn’t like any normal prequel. 😉 You think you know what has happened and what will happen? Well, think again. Also, I love the fact that this movie has re-built the main characters of the original series so that on one hand the signature characteristics aren’t lost, and on the other hand there’s much more koolness to them now than there ever was before. The movie has an awesome plot, awesome characters, awesome visuals and basically awesome everything.

And…. uhmmmm……. Spock and Uhura?? How exactly did that happen??? Well that’s certainly cute! =D

Waaaaaaall – eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! =D

Awwwwwwwwwwwww Wall-e melted meeeee! =) Well, yesterday I finally stole the time to go and watch the Wall-e movie which I had been waiting for…for… forever pretty much! And it was so worth the wait! =) This was probably one of the cutest animated movies that I have EVER seen in my life. Both the main characters, Wall-e and Evaa [Eve], were simply adorable, and the general plot was pretty neat too. I’m not going to say more since I want to avoid spoilers. I can only say this: don’t miss this movie! =)
Now I’m going to wait and see if I can get my hands on the toy robot that I’ve been reading about on Gizmodo. 😉

Garfield: A Tail Of Two Kitties

Warning: This post does not contain spoilers.

If there’s anyone out there who still hasn’t seen the 2nd Garfield movie, this is a reminder for them to go ahead and do so, ’cause you really don’t want to miss this one out! Specially since you’re going to enjoy 2 copies of your favorite fat lazy orange kitty in this movie.

Garfield 2 is a fun pack, and just like the 1st movie it’s full of cat-dancing, odie-kicking and of course the heavenly miracle of Lasagna. And of course to make things even better, Garfield gets to rule a kingdom! 😛 What else do you want? So go for it, NOW! 🙂
