Inception

Yes, I HAVE seen Inception! =D I just didn’t want to write about it because given the sophisticated plot of this movie, it’s so easy to cause spoilers, and it would be an unforgivable crime to do that to such incredibly brilliant scenario.

A couple of weeks ago [thanks to xo’s persistence! 😉 ] we went to see Inception, and the only thing I’m going to tell you about it is that it’s one of the most ingenious, unique movies that I have ever seen. I have every intention of getting me the Blu-ray once it’s out, as this movie is worth watching numerous times.

I’d also like to mention that if you enjoyed the Matrix trilogy, chances are you’ll enjoy inception too. In a way, I see Inception as Matrix inverse. 😉

Oh, and here’s the proof I did go to see it… =))

Robin Hood

Today a friend said to me “you should really see the Robin Hood movie, it’s right up yourrobin_hood_2010_poster[1] alley!”. And I said, “oh it totally is, and I’ve already seen it!”. And he said “but… but… but… but… but there’s nothing about it on your bloooooooooggggg!!!!”. Well, you can imagine the utter SHAME I felt at that moment! =P Oh my GOD, how did I manage to not write anything about my all time favourite version of Robin Hood?? So let me fix that now…

Yes, a couple of weeks a go we went to see Robin Hood. And I’m glad that despite a few discouraging comments that I heard / read about the movie here and there, I did go to see it. I have to say I don’t understand what’s not to like! In fact I enjoyed watching the movie IMMENSELY! =) The small but important modifications made to the plot felt like they were exactly what Robin Hood always needed to turn into a most interesting story. Since I know many of you haven’t seen it yet, I’m not going to say much more… but I just have to say that everything about this movie was very impressive. The cast were the best possible, and the the whole mood and feel of the movie really worked for me. So don’t listen to anyone who says otherwise…. and go see the movie for yourself. =)

ByeBye Lost!

Hmmmmmm. Nope. I’m not very happy. =/lost[1]

Lost was one of my favourite series. Aside from the fact that I’m going to miss it, I also feel that it didn’t quite… well…. finish! And I think the main reasons I feel this way is because the season finale did not do such a fine job of closing the circle. It simply wasn’t enough. I was expecting something much more fascinating! I get the feeling that the story got sooo big, that the producers sort of lost control of the complexity of it and as a result they just cut things off. So many unanswered questions, so much unfinished business!

Also, it seems like a lot of people aren’t quite sure about what happened. For instance, there’s a common confusion about whether the characters of the story were dead the entire time. Nope, they weren’t! Everything that happened actually did happen… The after death “limbo” universe which was introduced in season 6, is the only part of the story line in which they’re dead, as Christian Sheppard clarifies. Also, I’m as much disappointed as everyone else that they didn’t bring back Michael and Walt into the story, but hey, it makes sense! I mean Walt didn’t exactly spend so much time with the team for him to show up in their made up universe, and Kevin… well Kevin would not be able to “move on”. He killed a couple of people, and turned into some sort of a stuck spirit on the island.

And, YES, Hurley could be in the limbo even though he wasn’t dead when the series was finished. Because he would eventually die, right? And there’s no real concept of time in the limbo universe. As you may have noticed he said to Ben “you were a great number 2”. So it could be that they were number 1 and number 2 for thousands of years before they died and went to the limbo. But eventually, they would show up.

I guess what was most disappointing for me about the finale, was that I was hoping for a completely different  ending for the “Man in Black”. I mean come to think of it, when he was alive, he was a much better person than Jacob. He was intelligent, courageous and in fact much more honest and interested in the facts than Jacob. But he was betrayed… by pretty much everyone. Can you blame him for turning into some vengeful spirit thang? Jacob was the real b****d in all of this. Unfair ending for the “Man in Black”…. how reality like!

Anyhow, I think that so many questions about the nature of the island and other things remained unanswered… and as I said, I don’t find limbo a very convincing ending for such an amazing story. I wonder if the series writers might do something like Joss Whedon did with Buffy… continuing the story as comic books. Well, I don’t really think that’s going to happen… but it would be nice to have Lost comics, eh? 😉

This, I came across last week, on the FB items of one of my favourite musicians. It’s a lovely short film, with a beautiful message. I’ve been showing it to everyone so I decided I may as well post it here. =)

Sherlock Holmes : Meet The Musicians

Look what I came across… I find this video absolutely brilliant. I’m a huge fan of both the movie and the soundtrack, and I just LUV this! =D

Oh and here’s a very kool “For Your Consideration” poster! 😉

For_Your_Consideration

And you can now see a larger version of the poster as well as more Holmes related stuff on Verse.. my friend just created a page for it. =)

“They weren’t you, honey!” =D

From my list of belated movies to watch, last night I finally got to see the latest IndianaIndiana_Jones_-_The_Kingdom_Of_The_Crystal_Skull__XVID___2008_-fanart2[1] Jones movie. And boy oh boy did I enjoy it! =D Having been a huge [and do I mean HUUUGE] fan of Indi for my entire childhood [including now =D], I was worried that this new one was going to not reach up to my expectations and let me down. Well, it did no such thing! I LUUUUUUUVED it!

I really liked the general character reunion, and all the pointers to the past adventures. It was aaaaaaaaaaaaawesome to see “Marion Ravenwood” againe. =D The cute and goofy humour of the movie was great. I also totally loved the plot for this one. I guess it was about time Indi finally met with aliens from other dimensions, right? And of course it had to happen either in Atlantis or Eldorado. I mean do you know of any more appropriate place? 😉

I’m sure glad to see Indi’s son has turned out to be as much of a bad-arse as himself. 😉 That also makes me wonder, is it possible that there are now going to be sequels with new adventures for the son?? I would sort of dig that! =D I suppose my movie-buff friends would probably have an answer for that already…. 😉

P.S.: I suppose I should also mention that last week I finally watched “The Dark Knight”. Seeing how I haven’t posted anything about it, I guess you can tell exactly how impressed [↓] I feel by it. 😉

Due to all sorts of lacks of access, including the lack of access to the web and lack of access to a stationary chair [ =P ], I didn’t get the chance to post about what I’ve been up to in the past week or so… now I’m going to give you a general overview. And by the way, this is all aside from the 4th of November events… since I did already manage to post enough about that on Facebook…..

As I mentioned before, we were planning on seeing Lynn’s short film that was featured in the Roshd international film festival… and we did manage that, with a bit of adventure that is. The movie theatre showing this specific movie was “on the other side of” Tehran… non of my friends knew how to drive us there and even the driver of the cab we called was semi-uncertain about the location… so it was a bit funny, driving around and asking people where we were supposed to go. But we did get there at the end, and Lynn’s film was definitely worth the trip. =) Some very nice films were shown this year, and we managed to see a number of them in various movie theatres.

Unfortunately none of my favorite movies this year were from Iranian artists. With all the talent and intelligence that clearly exists in the Iranian youth, it was quite a bit sad to see that most of their movies were rather weak. Once upon a time, a couple of really amazing Iranian movie directors made some fantastic movies that were showing the pain and the hardship in the lives of the people living in small villages of Iran. Since then, it is as if a large number of Iranian artists think that if they just pick up their cameras and go take some movies from Iran’s small villages, that’ll make a great movie. Excuse me, NOT SO!

On my quest to see as much as I possibly can of the new developments in Tehran’s exterior and interior, my friends have been taking me to some interesting spots. TanTan took me to see a number of shopping malls and restaurants and such… One of the more interesting places she took me to, was this mall called “Milaade No”. Now the mall itself was rather good looking, but that’s not the interesting part of it. On the 3rd floor of the mall, there are 2 face to face shops that have some very cute decoration and jewelry stuff. The 2 stores are ran by 2 gentlemen and 1 lady, and all 3 are deaf. And guess what, in my entire shopping experience in Tehran in this trip, I hadn’t been treated so nicely and politely in ANY stores anywhere. With all the unfortunate behavior you keep running into these days, in the truly damaged society of Tehran [which I will write more about, later], this was a breath of fresh air. WAY TO GO FOLKS, LOVED YOU! I’m planning on going back there again for some serious shopping…. 😉

Mahyar finally took us to this café that he’s constantly talking about. It’s called the “Gramaphon” café, and I can see now why he’s so into this place! It’s this tiny little café that hardly has enough room for a few tables, and it has one of the neatest decoration I’ve ever seen. It gives you this really warm feeling of being in a very old and very familiar place… it’s difficult to describe, so I’ll just upload the photos I took. 😉 I guess the nicest part of it all is the company…

Pehgah and her dad showed us around this shopping mall called “Tirajheh”. Another very nice looking new shopping mall in Tehran… but this one I really don’t recommend going to! Why? Because…. uh…. how do I explain this. Let me give you an instance of what may happen in there. My mom was with us that day… and the very first shop she went into, she nearly got into a fight with one of the attendants. Here’s what it was like… it was this perfume shop, and the first thing about it that took my attention was that one of the attendants was standing there behind the cash, shaving his arm!!! Yeah. No kidding. I mean… ewww!? Then my mom went in to ask about a couple of perfumes she’s into, and before she finished her sentence, the other attendant was already packing up the perfume to give it to her… no mention of the price, no question as to whether she actually wants to buy it or not… and my mom was a bit surprised, so she mentioned to the guy that she’s asking a question… and the guy goes “Oh, so you’re just asking questions? You’re just here to ask questions then??” SOOOO BLOOODY RUDE! I’ve not seen behavior like that anywhere in this world before… and heck I’ve been to a few places! Well you can imagine how my mom reacted… and the only thing I could do was to go in, and pull her out using all my bloody might.

So well, above was an example of what I mean when I say that the society here is sick. Due to all the pressure that the people here have undergone in the past few years, they have changed. Not that things like this didn’t exist in the past, but in the 6 years that I hadn’t been to Iran, the change has been HUGE. A large part of the society have became rude, uncaring and extremely indecent [so sorry to say…]. There needs to be some sort of a change… and that’s what people were shouting for, on November 4th….

Anyway…. tomorrow evening I’m flying to Shiraz for a short visit. Haven’t been there in nearly 12 years or so. Will take tons of photos…. =) I’ve taken a large load of photos so far, and I’ll do my best to upload them soon.

And something else… I’m searching for my dad.
