Last week I finished reading [or more like devouring] Dan Brown’s latest book, “Inferno“. And well, wow! For me this book is now in a tie with “The Da Vinci Code” for Dan Brown’s best. As usual he has managed to put a lot of interesting ideas and generally “food for thought” in the book. But then the plot was also amazing this time, and felt like a bit of an evolution. So, I really enjoyed it. Totally recommended.
Of all the Zurich Dev events so far, I think this last one [last week] was the most interesting to me. The talk was about “Scriptcs“, which allows you to develop C# apps outside of Visual Studio, in any text editor. It’s basically turning C# in to a scripting language, using Roslyn for compilation. This is something I’m going to have some fun with..

Map of the Internet by Peer 1: Discovered this app this morning and I’ve been playing with it here and there all day. As the title suggests, it’s a 3D interactive map of the internet, and it’s quite nice to play with. =D
Last night we watched a movie by the name “The Man From Earth“, about which I had heard absolutely nothing before and I think Oliv had more or less accidentally come across it. Well, it turned out to be one of those movies that’s going to stay with me permanently. A fascinating idea, and some serious food for thought… apparently this movie is being compared to K-PAX, I can see why.
Great idea, great cast, great everything. I gave it 5 out of 5. If you haven’t seen it yet… you probably should.
By the way, make sure to read the Wikipedia article about the movie. Some very interesting facts in there.
So thanks to my tablet, I was able to watch the whole presentation regarding the earlier version of Mona Lisa, live yesterday. And I must say it was extremely cool! The proofs that were presented, both historical and technological, were VERY interesting! Check out the Mona Lisa Foundation website which now has a good load of info to offer. This little documentary is also pretty cool.

So apparently the Mona Lisa Foundation has finally found enough evidence to prove that the “Isleworth Mona Lisa” is actually an earlier version of Mona Lisa, by Da Vinci himself! They’re going to present the painting and the evidence tomorrow at Geneva. Anybody know how I can get in there by any chance? =)
In fact I have not been able to find any info about where in Geneva this is happening, or what is the title of the book that’s going to be released! I think they’re being pretty secretive about the whole thing… even the foundation’s website is only going to go live on the 27th, so there is no info on there right now.

“The opinion of art historians is split. American scientists are skeptical, saying that it is not the first time researchers have tried to attribute the ‘Isleworth Mona Lisa’ to Leonardo. All previous attempts failed, and they do not believe this time will be any different. Moreover, the Mona Lisa is one of the most copied and imitated paintings ever.”
