So as usual I’m pretty late to the whole movie gig, but oh well, I guess it’s better late than never eh? Specially when it comes to a movie such as this.. I couldn’t possibly miss this one. =)
So we went to see Avatar last night… and I can’t begin to put into words how impressed and moved I am by this movie. Would you have seen me in the theatre though, you’d have been able to tell for yourself. Specially if you would touch the scarf around my neck… lets just say that if was completely wet. I had tears all over my face for the bigger half of the movie. So much beauty, so much emotions… ahhhh…. [And I have to add, it wasn’t just me.. the company was weeping too! 😉 ]
This movie sends so many deeply meaningful messages through. There’s so much to think about here. And I have to admit, even though I knew I was watching a movie and not something real, there were times that I just wanted to explode with emotions. I couldn’t help totally falling in love with the “Na’vi” people. And there were times I really wanted to punch that sodding “Colonel Miles Quaritch” hard enough in the jaw to completely redecorate his face. And guess what… finally someone managed to picture a race of alien beings that are in fact prettier than humans. Much prettier that is. =D I mean…. oh man…. BLUE….. =D 😉
Now I’m going to wait for the Blu-ray, and the soundtrack CD. It’s certainly a completely different experience when you’re watching it on IMAX 3D, and feeling like the tree branch is about to splash you in the face… but the Blu-ray would still be quite welcome, and better than nothing. 😉 But what I really wish for, is a couple [or more] of sequels. Not that it seems very likely at all…but it’s still ok to wish for it, right? =P
Aaaaaaahhhhh….. So dreamy…….
Well, given I don’t have any sort of access to the internet at the moment, I just write this now and hopefully post it later… =P
So we spent 7 days on the Kish island, and I think I could have spent another 2 or 3 weeks in there and still would not have had enough time to do all I wanted to do… Kish is a small island, but there’s a lot of nice places to see and fun things to do in it. Just walking around the island on the shore is something that I never get enough of. And the sea shells there have the most amazing colours…
The last time I was on this island it was about 10 years ago. Much has changed since then. There’s been a lot of improvement in terms of living conditions, and tourist attractions both. Some of the more unknown parts of the island including the historical sights and the natural beauties are being paid much more attention to, and that has had some positive and negative results both. It’s good that more people are getting to really know the island, but then the government has unfortunately done a very efficient job completely destroying the natural beauty of some of these parts. For instance, the part of the shore called “The Greek Ship” [because of the ancient Greek Ship that’s been stuck in there for hundreds of years now!], used to be an amazingly beautiful spot to watch the sunset of the island from. And that was all due to the natural formation of the rocks on there, and the whole ancient feeling about the place. Except none of that remains now. The government has made a “park” in there… something completely fake… horrible, ugly!
Another instance of a really shameful destruction of the island attractions, is what they’ve done to the “Green Tree”. This tall and huge tree is a few hundred years old, and it’s braches used to come down from the top all the way to the ground around it.. beautiful scene it was. Well guess what…. they’ve cut off all of those old tall branches, leaving the tree completely naked. I mean, how low on IQ can some people possibly be? This has been a true crime in my opinion….
There’s a ton of new shopping malls on the island, as well as new hotels and sports centers. The air is fresh and clean, which is the exact opposite of what you get in Tehran, and there’s no traffic. Well, I guess I better leave the rest of the describing to be done through my rather large collection of photos that I’ve taken there. Will upload soon…. 😉
Well now this is pretty fantastic….
“902 surviving letters by Vincent van Gogh are to be published for the first time this week. Mostly written to the artist’s brother Theo, the letters offer personal insights which give lie to the idea that van Gogh was a “reckless and unreflective genius”.”

Oh I just have to shout out my feelings towards Sleepthief’s 2009 album right now, and really really loud too! =) The new album called “Labyrinthine Heart” is… well… what is it exactly… I don’t know! I don’t have the words to describe the beauty of this collection! I just know that there are tracks in here [“Labyrinthine Heart” and “Here I Confess” for example] that make me feel like my soul is having a trip to a different place, every single time I listen to them. Oh God… this is what I call music!
Sleepthief’s first album, called “The Dawnseeker” has also been one of my favorites, specially the track “Eurydice”. I came across “The Dawnseeker” early last year, and since then I had been impatiently waiting for more. Listening to “Labyrinthine Heart” now, I have to say that it’s well worth the wait. =)
Oooohh I’m enjoying this way too much…..
ASD’s new gorgeous and painful demo called Chameleon was just released on Evoke, and it RUUUUUUUULEZ. =D And I really do mean painful. You have to watch it to know why….. You can download it from here, and read the lyrics here. Make sure you pay close attention to the music and the lyrics while enjoying the outstanding visuals. Aside from the fact that aMUSiC has done it again with an awesome tune [very 007 in my opinion this time around! ;)], the lyrics are just… priceless! 😉 They add a lot to the general direction and the message of the demo. I have to say this again… I luuuuvvv the visual style of ASD’s latest 3 demos! =)
The video capture is not there yet but I will post it as soon as there is one.
“I – In quella parte del libro de la mia memoria, dinanzi a la quale poco si potrebbe leggere, si trova una rubrica la quale dice: Incipit vita nova. Sotto la quale rubrica io trovo scritte le parole le quali è mio intendimento d’asemplare in questo libello; e se non tutte, almeno la loro sentenzia.”
Oh I just love this……From La Vita Nuova by Dante. English translation here.
