The million year old blog

Hmmm…for some odd reason it appears that a whole lot of my friends have never heard this one, which happens to be one of my favorites. The video clip for this track is also one of those which is always running at some corner of my mind. Reminds me a great deal of “The City Of Angels”. So why not share it with you? I’d be happy to know what you think of it. 🙂
And the lyrics:
Green light, Seven Eleven
You stop in for a pack of cigarettes
You don’t smoke, don’t even want to
Hey now, check your change
Dressed up like a car crash
Your wheels are turning but you’re upside down
You say when he hits you, you don’t mind
Because when he hurts you, you feel alive
Oh no, is that what it is?
Red lights, grey morning
You stumble out of a hole in the ground
A vampire or a victim
It depends on who’s around
You used to stay in to watch the adverts
You could lip synch to the talk shows
And if you look, you look through me
And when you talk, you talk at me
And when I touch you, you don’t feel a thing
If I could stay… then the night would give you up
Stay, and the day would keep its trust
Stay, and the night would be enough
Faraway, so close
Up with the static and the radio
With satellite television
You can go anywhere
Miami, New Orleans, London, Belfast, and Berlin
And if you listen I can’t call
And if you jump, you just might fall
And if you shout I’ll only hear you
If I could stay… then the night would give you up.
Stay then the day would keep its trust
Stay with the demons you drowned
Stay with the spirit I found
Stay and the night would be enough
Three o’clock in the morning
It’s quiet and there’s no one around
Just the bang and the clatter
As an angel runs to ground
Just the bang and the clatter
As an angel hits the ground
Ah…I really do love this song.
Also, on a completely unrelated topic, Amoivikos/ASD had posted a link to this very interesting video clip in the comments for the last part of my report. I’m going to post it here, since I believe not many people will get the chance to see it over there. The video offers some good information about the Demoscene. [Thanks amv :)] And by the way, if [like me] you’re not a German speaker, don’t freak out, there’s English subtitles. 🙂
Update: Ok peeps, looks like another discussion thread just opened up on the comments for the part 6 of the report (Vantage related), you might wanna check it out.

Well I for one know the song, and love it too. 😉
HEEEYYYY HEY this is the best U2 video everrrrrrrr, I had seen it a while ago and I didn’t remember which one it was. Thanks for the tip!
That Demoscene video, they should have shown an ASD demo!
I had actually heard the song before, but had never seen the video. I think I like the song a lot more now.
Ooh…memories….
Bestest U2 music video of all time. And it’s not even available on mtv.com. Never thought I’d see it on youtube.
And thank you AMV for the second clip. Pretty cool.
Yeah great video. Still not as good as the one for The Sweetest Thing. ;D
Darn it, I know you’re making fun! 😀 But I really like the vidoe for “The Sweetest Thing”. 😛
Hehe yeah that one’s cute.
I hadn’t seen this one. Thank you!
uhh wait a sec, isn’t this supposed to be the video for angle of harlem? all this time I somehow thought it was. :S
Aasemoon: Oh how so very inconvenient of you not to speak German yet! ( 😉 😛 )
Seamus: Video for Angel of Harlem is this one:

Yeah…it is inconvenient [seriously] and Rene & Thorsten wouldn’t mind shooting me for that. 😛 It is however on the “to learn” list. I have to get comfortable with Greek first though.
Dressed up like a car crash…
Yeah that would be me after the final exams. 🙂
LOL Aasemoon
This is totally ciry of angels. Since I love the movie, I love the video too. Awesome lyrics as well.
*city
I’m obviously a huge fan of U2 and you know it so..’nough said.
The 2nd video which apparetnly we have Amoivikos to thank for, is pretty darn interesting. Answered some questions.
First time seeing the video, first time hearing the music, totally stunned!
I second J.J.
This is for sure the best U2 track I’ve ever heard. Not that I’m a U2 fan anyway, but this is cool.
Lucian: Thx for the video link.
Honesly I didn’t like the video for Angel of Harlem much.
Have you listened to “until the end of the world”?
Nope, is that a suggestion? 🙂
Yeah 🙂
Hey did you guys notice how the youtube players just got up-graded?
Yeah it looks kinda cool. 🙂
