So here’s another example of how my movie taste is so totally incompatible with… well… most people! Last night I watched M. Night Shyamalan’s true masterpiece [at least in my book], “Lady in the Water“. Apparently the rest of the world considers this movie a failure. I can’t for the life of me understand why. There aren’t many movies nowadays that have so much to say… so many messages to send, and it’s so disappointing to see how this rare one got beaten to death by the critics. I really truly enjoyed watching this movie, and I’m totally going to get me the book.

I quite enjoyed it too – but from a literal or superficial point of view it can be perceived as rediculous – as many people I know do too.
Yes… also some people seem to have a problem with Shyamalan himself taking a main role.. I think he did a good job with it too, so I have no idea why everyone's so critical about that.
I enjoy most Shyamalan movies. There are some elements that I guess leave most people unsatisfied at the end. While the movies start well and are very captivating, the plot ending sometimes is ridiculous or unexpected (I didn't liked it in Signs, but I did in The Village (which I really enjoyed)). I have seen Lady in the Water too although I don't remember it well but it's the atmosphere and the whole fairy tale settings that I enjoy.
I guess I should check imdb again for the rest of his movies and start a watch marathon again 🙂
Shymalan marathon? That sounds great actually… maybe I'll do that too at some point. =D
