The million year old blog

Just like a whole lot of other “Moody Blues” tracks, this song means a lot to me. One of those that I’ve had in my ears ever since I was a kid… and somehow it makes me fly through time.. and space.. and my life… and everything. If you’re someone who shares a bit of musical taste with me, [and you can find that out here of course], I recommend you check this out ASAP, that is if you haven’t already. =)
And here are the lyrics:
The Actor by The Moody Blues
The curtain rises on the scene
With someone shouting to be free
The play unfolds before my eyes
There stands the actor who is me
The sleeping hours takes us far
From traffic, telephones and fear
Put out your problems with the cat
Escape until a bell you hear
Our reasons are the same
But theres no-one we can blame
For theres nowhere we need go
And the only truth we know comes so easily
The sound I have heard in your hello
Oh, oh, darling, you’re almost part of me
Oh, oh, darling, you’re all Ill ever see
Its such a rainy afternoon
No point in going anywhere
The sounds just drift across my room
I wish this feeling I could share
Its such a rainy afternoon
She sits and gazes from her window
Her mind tries to recall his face
The feeling deep inside her grows
Our reasons are the same
But theres no-one we can blame
For theres nowhere we need go
And the only truth we know comes so easily
The sound I have heard in your hello
Oh, oh, darling, you’re almost part of me
Oh, oh, darling, you’re all Ill ever see
The sound I have heard in your hello
Oh, oh, darling, you’re all Ill ever see
Oh, oh, darling, you’re almost part of me…

Oh my God… yes, this, of course. Damn I haven’t listened to it for a while. Time to do that again now! 🙂 Thanks for reminding! 😉
Glad to see there’s still people out there who listen to ‘real’ music!
There’s 2 groups of people in this world:
– The lucky ones who know “the actor”,
– The unlucky ones who don’t!
I’m proud to be in the first group! =)
OH yes yes yes YES YES YES YES! Now you’ve hit it. One of the best I’ve ever heard, this one. Thank you!
Yes this is one of those old master-pieces indeed. Great to see that you actually remember it. =)
Ok, even Lucian comments! This track should be quite something. *starts digging*
Oh I remember, I’ve heard this once from your notebook actually! It’s a very emotional song, quite beautiful. ^_^
OMG! wow… yeah, there’s this, and there’s “Night’s in white satin”, and whole bunch of others. Amazing music. The Moody Blues rules forever!
Yeah I’d also like to mention “House of Four Doors” and yes of course a lot of others.. I could go on forever. =) Hehe it’s actually quite kool that you people actually like this track too. Like I said, it means a lot to me.
Total Moody Blues piece of work. The melody rules and the lyrics are darn powerful. Ah I miss this sort of music, it just isn’t produced any longer!
And “The Best Way to Travel”. 🙂 That ones is also pretty awesome. “The Actor” is definitely one of my favorites as well. Like Seth said, this sort of music is becoming extinct, I’m afraid.
Hey which album is this track from? I have a few albums from the moody blues but I don’t recognize this one!!
This song is from the “In Search of the Lost Chord” album, an absolutely great one. I also very much recommend the “Octave” album if you haven’t got that yet.
Aaah yeah, Octave… “Survival”! Me dies for that one! 🙂
Survival..nothing more than survival…
Ooh yeah! =D
Not to mention “One Step Into The Light”.
Find the mission of your life and start to be…
Well I just downloaded the song, and I have to say it’s fantastic. Thanks for the heads up! I don’t have much moody blues stuff yet, only night’s in white satin and a few others. But I think I’m gonna be getting myself a few more now! ^_-
Ok, pretty odd! Everyone seems to totally like this song and I haven’t even heard the name of the band before! Uhm got to get some of that!
Oh trust me, we’re not “everyone”. Rather a peculiar bunch! 😉
Haha very true! =)
I love this song too, and the lyrics are so meaningful. Yeah I guess I could count myself in with the peculiar bunch as well!! =))
This whole album is true master piece. House of 4 doors is in this one too right?
Yeah they’re both from “In Search of the Lost Chord”. Amazing music.
Very deep lyrics, I’m sure going to get the album. 🙂
