The million year old blog
23 Jun
YAY I’m free! My 4 days of doom are officially over and done with. Now I get the chance to sit down, organize my mind and post a new log. Hmmmm….there’s a lot to say…wonder where to start. First things first I guess.
I’ve been asked to post more often! Well thank you for your interest, and I will certainly try to do so. The trouble, you see, is that I have this overly hectic schedule, consisting of: school – work – research – projects – and… well…. hopefully “life” if I ever get any. So that means as much as I’d love to post logs often, I just can’t always steal the time to do so. But again as I said, I’ll sure try.
Now, back to the recent “Hot Topic”. If you’re still wondering what exactly happened around here during the last week, and where the apparent frenzy came from, well here’s what happened.
It all started when my sense of curiosity took me on quite a trip, which resulted in the “discovery” [:P] of some of the most beautiful works of art I’ve ever encountered. I posted a log about this “demos” which caused a bit of a big bang. Then I decided to share the experience with a group of artist friends. We had a little get together to which we refer as “the display”, where we watched a few of these demos and had some discussions. The idea of displaying the demos wasn’t something that I had pre-planned. It popped into my mind right on the scene and I’m happy to say it turned into quite the event. The crowd showed some strong feelings toward the 3 demos from the Greek demo group known as ASD, which honestly was no big surprise since…well….so did I! 😛
Big thanks goes to Dennis and Tim for helping out with everything, and my deepest heartfelt regards goes to the guys and gals who let themselves burst into tears at certain scenes, including that => scene from”Planet Risk“, [Tim, don’t think I missed your face! :P], and to my friend Alex [aka Anders] who now has to pay for a brand new brain, since his old one broke during the display of “Animal Attraction“. [Does SONY manufacture VAIO brains? hmmmm….nevermind.] You might get a deal on eBay. And of course the biggest and loudest of Cheers, Kudos and You Rox goes to ASD for their super brilliant creations.
As for this <= part of "Iconoclast” during which I myself pretty much lost it …..well we all thought it’s a sand-clock on a music box. As it turns out [thanks aMUSiC for the info] this thing is no music box! It’s actually an “Antikythera Mechanism”, an ancient Greek analog computer!! [info here]. Now is that kool or what??
And as for the sound track for “Animal Attraction” which successfully put us all into trance after listening to it about 10 times straight….here are the lyrics as requested:
A smell in the air,
a game never fair,
I’m holding the dice and you just move a square,
You’re facing the wall,
once again when I roll,
Not letting the fate to take it’s toll..
Don’t you fear my maze,
It’s natural to bite your lip and tremble in this fashion,
Mesmerize my gaze,
Touch me and surrender to the animal attraction.
[Lyrics by aMUSiC]
Ok…now I’m ending this log since it has already gone too long, and honestly I have no idea if there was anything else that I was supposed to mention here. If I’m missing something, please let me know and I’ll add. And by the way, regarding the question of which of these was actually my fave….oh for cryin’ out loud! Is that even a question? I think I’ve already been loud enough about it that the whole world knows and my sound system is crashing….it’s called “Animal Attraction”. =>

OOOO the blue butterflies, Gosh that’s fantastic!
Yeah you bet I’m kinda crazy about that scene myself… 🙂
Hey there thx for the lyrics! MYYYYSSSSSSSSTIC eh?
Awesome lyrics! Who came up with them?
The same person who composed the music….yes… to my surprise as well!!
That is, well, pretty awesome!
Gosh that display was unforgettable! People went nutz over these. One thing you haven’t mentioned is the way people suddenly all stood up, that was cool.
We’re talking about the schedule wondering what we’re supposed to do then, and she suddenly goes…. “How about I show you guys something”… Awesome! ^_^
eh..huh? Come again? you displayed the demos on a THEATER SCREEN?? When? Where?? oh Gosh I totally missed out on that one didn’t I? mmmmmmmmm :((( *goes to find some place to die*
@ Ricky: Awwwwww come on now…no need to be so upset, we’ll do it again later on during the summer. 🙂
“it’s natural to bite your lip and tremble in this fashion,”… oh yeah… I really like this guy! Great music and great lyrics.
Well we’re glad the Italian nagging master approves! 😛
aaa the last screen shot from animal attraction, 2 of those guys actually commented on the last post eh?
@ NymSys: Surveillance?? 😛
@ Aasemoon, when will you come to L.A.? We could have a “display” over here too! :>
Gotta love these guys! Making this demos is obviously a hell of a job, and letting people enjoy it for free….
Cheeeeeeeeeeers!
@ Stefan: I couldn’t agree with u more!
YES MAM But hey don’t think “I” missed “YOUR” face either! I know who pretty much cried when the “blue” butterflies took over the screen! 😉
Anders needs to buy a brain? mmmm, wonder if that’s such a bad thing! 😛
My fave is all of them by the way! 😀
Followed you here from pouet.net. Could you please take over my publicity too?
@ The guy above: Dude what publicity?? We’re just discussing something that we all like. That’s something that has been happening in this blog for quite a while.
U notice the guy is “anonym” 😛
Anyhow, lovely show! ASD rocks, we want more! 🙂
Well — yeah. I liked the other demo that you played too, the one with the girl — I think it was called Candy or something. Obviously very high-tech work. But not comparable to the beauty of Iconoclast!
Just beautiful…..
LOL yeah I guess I should try eBay! But then what’s the point? You’ll bring up another one and….hehehehe….
THE MUSIC!! Oh man THE MUSIC!! I loved the music for all 3 of them.
I just watched all of them again. On 7th heaven right now! 😀 😀 GO ASD
I really loved that part of Iconoclast with the moon and roses and all that, it’s so romantic! 😛
I’m actually a big fan of the blue butterflies but the sand clock part rocked too!
OMG yeah the part with the flowers and the girl in the window, so very romantic !! ahhhhhhhh *sigh* *sigh* ^_^
Yooooo I just checked your profile again, what are these stuff that you’ve been watching huh????? 😛
Actually when I saw the “blue” butterfiles the only person on my mind was Aasemoon herself!! 😀
There’s some text in some parts of Animal Attraction, can anyone read those?
Well I know I can’t! I might end up asking about it.
I sorta gave up trying after a few seconds! I don’t think it’s supposed to be readable! 😛
WOAH! I just realized there are other ASD demos that we should prolly have a chit-chat about later on! hmmmmmmmmm…… ;D
Like which??
Like a certain trilogy!! 😉
OOOOOOOO…looking forward to it! 😉
About the text in Animal Attraction, I even tried taking screen shots, but still no luck! No can read! Will you ask someone please??
That “thing” did not look to me like a music box, it actually came as some sort of a clock. But an analog computer was certainly out of the question. 🙂
LOL LOL “life if you ever get any” hahahahahaha
What I’m wondering is where the name came from. “Planet Risk” ?? Like the planet is in risk or something?
What’s actually at risk here, is me breaking my brain just like that Anders guy did. This demos are MOVING!
Those lyrics are super! Thanks for posting them Aasemoon. Cheers (again) to aMUSiC.
YOU VAIO FAN!!

I just read the article about “Antikythera Mechanism”. I’m starting to see why you’re so eager to learn Greek!
Hi Aasemoon, I’m happy your doom days are over so you posted again. As I said last time your weblog is quite the marvel.
My favorite demo so far has been Iconoclast by ASD, and I’m glad you posted that information about the analog computer. Gives me a better understanding of what’s happening in the demo. 🙂
The title “Planet Risk” was devised by the other musician of the group, Leviathan, who plays the guitars and with who we wrote the music together for Planet Risk and Iconoclast.
The title is as such that can have multiple meanings such as “something that poses a risk to the planet” or “Risk” being the name of the planet. I’m sure that you can come up with more interpretations if you let your imagination go wild.
aMUSiC/ASD
Thanks a lot aMUSiC for the input. 🙂
Living on the planet Risk…hmmmm…. yeah!
Gee thanks! You actually receive a response here! 😀 Thanks aMUSiC.
Cheers to both musicians who wrote the music for Iconoclast. IT ROOOOOOCKS!!
Since everyone seem to be talking about their faves, I might as well say that I loved the way Iconoclast started (the blue pipes and the music and all that).
“OOOOH GOD I need a signature” … [fan frenzy]… 😛
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…. 😀
Well I second that!
woah same here! I’ve been watching this stuff over and over and over and over and over and over and……you get the point.
You fan frenzy? wait till you see the trilogy….I’ll ask you about frenzy then! 😛

Haha nice I just checked their website. Cool, they seem more real now!
Cool thing is that there’s a page with all the demos which includes a short background for each of them.
I think I should add here that the music for Iconoclast really does rock hard. 🙂

Oh Guys, also check out the large pix from Animal Attraction [in ASD website] they’re so cute. 🙂
Now I have a feeling there are posters in order!
Hi, I tried downloading and watching planet risk but my system goes to halt after a minut or so. Any suggestions?
Hi Zak, there’s link to a video version of Planet Risk available in the same pouet.net page. Try that. 🙂
Hi Aasemoon, thanks to your kind response I was finally able to see planet risk. I have also watched the other 2, they are all very impressive as you have suggested here in your blog. 🙂
Fire Fire! 😉
No, FIIIIIRRRRRRRRE FIIIIIIRRRRRRRRE! 😀
Cool weblog. The template is beautiful, your own design I guess?
I fond your weblog through pouet.net. Took the liberty of checking your information page as well. Has it ever occured to you that you could make a hell of a scener? You can code, you can design, why not join a demogroup?
Dear Annonymouse 🙂
Thanks a lot for dropping by, and checking out my stuff.
Sometimes I wish we had a life span of a 1000 years so we could each accomplish all that we wish to accomplish, and spend time on anything we find ourselves interested in. But unfortunately that is not the case!
My current focus is designing robots. I love demos, but the busy schedule that I mentioned before doesn’t leave me any free time to have demoscene related activities. Perhaps later on, when I have gradually gained a bit more knowledge about creating demos, and maybe have some free time, I might do…well…something!! 🙂 Thank you again.
Designing robots rules. However it’s a shame that you don’t have time for demoscene. Do post something here if you ever decided to join a demogroup.

that’s good too….
Yup! Thank you asusu! 🙂
Actually the page in Answers.com offers a bit more info doesn’t it? 😛
Again thx Asusu
aaaa….Aasemoon? Something’s happening here, I think it might interest you that in the last 30 mins your counter has been running up like MAD! 😀
Heh yeah I noticed. No clue why though! Perhaps the ASD fan frenzy has taken over? 😛
No it’s ASD world domination…yeah yeah….I like that!;)
Sasha’s a nice guy…Sasha checks all websites….:P
OH! Sasha’s a lucky guy! Sasha makes 100 for Aasemoon now! 😀
So, trilogy display when now? ^_^
The projector still ain’t working? :S
WHAT?? Rumors of a 2nd display? 😉 near future I hope!
Wow, wow, wow! I didn’t knew you are new to the demoscene (as you say about discovering demos), and your enthousiasm kicks ass!!1 =)))
It really reminds me my first days when I was discovering demos (Second reality in my 486 and such stuff 😉 and was really enhtousiastic to tell to people about my discoveries and show them demos. But most of them were bored of them, ok maybe they weren’t as designed or interesting as today, maybe I didn’t have friends who were more into technical or artistic stuff to appreciate. But here I see 100 messages and that you watch them with your friends and they cry at particular scenes (hahaha!). Amazing, girl!!! I am really happy you like them so much and you express so insane abuot them, it really reminds me my old enthousiasm which I seem to loose. Maybe if I look back I’ll get that feeling when I was first discovering this world, wow!
Crazy =)
p.s. I decided to post here because you post in my blog and I only posted in your shoutbox in the past 🙂
p.p.s. Continue with those enthousiastic demo posts, I love reading them!
Optimus thank you for your nice comment! 🙂 Yes the fact is when I came across Iconoclast, the first time I watched it I think my jaw was resting somewhere on the floor the whole time. I was so awed and even somewhat confused… so I watched it a couple of times more, then I went for more demos, and somewhere along the line I realized I’ve completely fell for them! 🙂 And then sharing the feeling with a group of mostly artzee friends caused yet another kool shock. So yeah…it’s all very interesting, and given that u’ve been there for quite a while, I do hope that u look back on the reasons why u got urself into the gig in the first place, and get your fire back. 🙂
I sure will post more demo related material soon, and thanks for visiting me again. 🙂
